Definition: A hemoflagellate subspecies of parasitic protozoa that causes Rhodesian sleeping sickness in humans. It is carried by Glossina pallidipes, G. morsitans and occasionally other species of game-attacking tsetse flies.  causes Rhodesian sleeping sickness; infection: coord IM with TRYPANOSOMIASIS, AFRICAN (IM); for antigens, coord with ANTIGENS, PROTOZOAN, for antibodies, coord with ANTIBODIES, PROTOZOAN    Other names Trypanosoma rhodesiense; rhodesienses, Trypanosoma brucei; rhodesienses, Trypanosoma; rhodesiense, Trypanosoma brucei; rhodesiense, Trypanosoma; brucei rhodesienses, Trypanosoma; brucei rhodesiense, Trypanosoma; Trypanosoma rhodesienses; Trypanosoma brucei rhodesienses
