Galactosylceramidase

Definition: An enzyme that hydrolyzes galactose from ceramide monohexosides. Deficiency of this enzyme may cause globoid cell leukodystrophy (LEUKODYSTROPHY, GLOBOID CELL). EC 3.2.1.46.  /defic: consider also LEUKODYSTROPHY, GLOBOID CELL
