Alphapapillomavirus

Definition: A genus of DNA viruses in the family PAPILLOMAVIRIDAE. They preferentially infect the anogenital and ORAL MUCOSA in humans and primates, causing both malignant and benign neoplasms. Cutaneous lesions are also seen.  infection: coordinate IM with PAPILLOMAVIRUS INFECTIONS; consider also WARTS
