Spasm

Definition: An involuntary contraction of a muscle or group of muscles. Spasms may involve SKELETAL MUSCLE or SMOOTH MUSCLE.  GEN or unspecified only; coord IM with specific organ/dis (IM); spasms in infants: index SPASMS, INFANTILE if an epileptic seizure (see MeSH definition) or SPASM + INFANT if non-epileptic such as in tetany or vitamin defic; "facial spasm"
