Definition: Pathological processes involving the PERIODONTIUM including the gum (GINGIVA), the alveolar bone (ALVEOLAR PROCESS), the DENTAL CEMENTUM, and the PERIODONTAL LIGAMENT.  entry term PARODONTOSIS occurs in foreign literature; "periodontosis" also seen in foreign literature, meaning "periodontal disease", should not be confused with PERIODONTOSIS see AGGRESSIVE PERIODONTITIS; inflammatory disease
