Monocytes

Definition: Large, phagocytic mononuclear leukocytes produced in the vertebrate BONE MARROW and released into the BLOOD; contain a large, oval or somewhat indented nucleus surrounded by voluminous cytoplasm and numerous organelles.  do not confuse with LEUKOCYTES, MONONUCLEAR
