Hydroxymethylglutaryl-CoA Reductases, NAD-Dependent

Definition: Specific hydroxymethylglutaryl CoA reductases that utilize the cofactor NAD. This class of enzymes performs a catabolic role in microorganisms such as Pseudomonas mevalonii where it oxidatively acetylates MEVALONIC ACID to form 3-HYDROXY-3-METHYLGLUTARYL-COENZYME A and NADH.  do not confuse with HYDROXYMETHYLGLUTARYL-COA-REDUCTASES, NADP-DEPENDENT    Other names NAD-Dependent Hydroxymethylglutaryl-CoA Reductases; NAD-Dependent 3-Hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl CoA-Reduc; Hydroxymethylglutaryl CoA Reductase, NAD Dependent; HMG CoA Reductases, NAD Dependent; HMG CoA Reductase, NAD Dependent; CoA-Reductase, NAD-Dependent 3-Hydroxy-3-methylglu; Hydroxymethylglutaryl CoA Reductase, NAD-Dependent; HMG CoA Reductase, NAD-Dependent; 3-Hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl CoA-Reductase, NAD-Depe; HMG CoA Reductases, NAD-Dependent
