Definition: Individuals participating in the health care system for the purpose of receiving therapeutic, diagnostic, or preventive procedures.  GEN only, irrespective of disease; patients as people or as a social, sociol, psychol, etc., group; do not confuse the patient with the disease: the "tuberculotic patient"
