Definition: Induction of a stress reaction in experimental subjects by means of an electrical shock; applies to either convulsive or non-convulsive states.  exper shock by electricity, usually in psychol exper: do not confuse with ELECTRIC INJURIES or ELECTROCONVULSIVE THERAPY; X ref ELECTROCONVULSIVE SHOCK: do not coord with CONVULSIONS; electrocountershock    Other names Electroconvulsive Shock; Shocks, Electroconvulsive; Shock, Electroconvulsive; Electroshocks; Electroconvulsive Shocks
