Definition: Maintenance of blood flow to an organ despite obstruction of a principal vessel. Blood flow is maintained through small vessels.  a naturally occurring physiol phenomenon: not for restoration of funct by surg; not restricted to coronary vessels; do not confuse with NEOVASCULARIZATION, PHYSIOLOGIC: see MeSH scope notes; DF: COLLATERAL CIRC
